Fungus on the feet: symptoms, causes
Fungi are diseases caused by mycotic organisms. Often the infection attacks the feet and then spreads to the nails.
Easily infected with this disease - enough to walk barefoot where there is already a fungus.
Most often, the infection occurs in public places - in saunas, bathrooms, swimming pools. A humid environment is ideal for spore reproduction. Fragments of skin, along with fungus, remain on floors, carpets and even wipes.
It is also easy to pick up mushrooms in a pedicure salon if the tools are not sterile.
The symptoms of the appearance of fungus on the feet vary, as it depends on the type of infection. However, there are some common features. I will tell you more about them.
In my practice, the symptoms of the appearance of fungus on the feet are:
- persistent itching on the skin of the feet, especially in the area between the toes;
- unpleasant smell;
- changes in the color and structure of toenails;
- peeling or thickening of the skin;
- the appearance of cracks and small wounds;
- pain when walking;
- bubble formation with liquid.
If you notice such signs, so as not to endanger your health, I recommend seeing a doctor, as medication may be needed.
The causes of foot fungus are different. Among them, my friend pointed out:
- mechanical injuries to nails and skin;
- low quality shoes;
- increased sweating;
- immune and endocrine system disorders;
- age-related changes (older people are more susceptible to fungal infections than children);
- some diseases (diabetes mellitus, metabolic disorders).
To avoid getting fungus, take care of your own shoes and practice good hygiene when visiting public places.
This also happens at home: you can get the infection from other family members. Do not use other people's belongings under any circumstances.
